S. Korean gov't to extend fuel tax cuts till end of 2024
South Korea is to extend its fuel tax cuts till the end of the year. The cuts had been due to expire at the end of this month. The Finance Ministry announced on Wednesday that amid efforts to reduce the burden from taxes and fuel prices, the fuel tax cuts will be extended though the size of those cuts will be reduced. The tax cut rate for gasoline will be reduced from 20 percent to 15 percent, while for diesel, it will drop from 30 percent to 23 percent. This is the twelfth time that the government has extended the fuel tax cuts since they were first implemented in 2021.
